To create ink from an inkstick, the adhere is consistently ground from an inkstone with a small amount of h2o to create a dark liquid and that is then applied with an ink brush. Artists and calligraphists could vary the thickness from the resulting ink by reducing or expanding the intensity and time of ink grinding. These inks created the sensitive
